Name: 'Fantasy Self Portrait' Avatar Date: Nov 2007 Software: Paint Shop Pro 7 (PC)
Gargoyle
Another entry for a Pixel Joint weekly challenge. This time to create a 64x64 avatar that is a 'fantasy self portrait'. Started off with a quick line art of myself doing a bit of an evil grin sorta thing and then kept changing and adding bits til I got this gargoyle thing (I had Disney's rather fine tv show in my mind). Kept to under 16 colors even though there was no limit on colors for this challenge. Just wanted the low color practice so it came out at 14. As part of the challenge rules the WIP process had to be supplied. This can be found here if you're interested as an animated GIF.

Name: CPC Shoot 'Em Up Mock Up Date: Oct 2007 Software: Paint Shop Pro 7 (PC)
CPC Shoot 'Em Up Mock Up
Shortly after I did the R-Type Mode 0 Amstrad CPC mock up I pixelled up a couple of rough sprite ideas of how a shoot 'em up designed specifically for the Amstrad CPC might look. A couple of days ago I reworked them and pixelled a complete mock up for them. Again chose to use the 16 color wide-pixel Mode 0 (as opposed to the 4 color regular sized pixels Mode 1) as it's best suited for the horizontal shooter format on the CPC, in my opinion.

Name: Carnivac Avatar Date: Oct 2007 / Feb 2008 Software: Paint Shop Pro 7 (PC)

Carnivac Avatar

Needed me a new 64x64 avatar as I've been using the same one (Howlin' Jack) for years now on various sites and am sick of it. This here be a fairly quick pixel of the Transformers G1 character Carnivac whose name I use in various places such as this site. He's an ex-Decepticon (Marvel UK comic plotline) hence why I gave him a scratched Decepticon insignia. Also tried to get a sorta Geoff Senior (Transformers UK comic artist that inspired me to draw when I was a kid) look to the face and use of black. At some point I might pixel the concept sketches I've done of this character using a more TF movie-like asthetics too. But for now I have new avatar... UPDATED FEB 2008. Restyled the picture with a helmet more closer to the toy version and some highlights and reworking of that stuff I wasn't happy with before.

Name: Werewolves Of London Date: Sep 2007 Software: Paint Shop Pro 7 (PC)
Werewolves Of London
Made this for a Pixel Joint weekly challenge where you had to 'remake' the graphics of an old 8 bit game. I chose to base my entry on a little game called 'Werewolves of London' which was on CPC, Spectrum and C64 which had you as a man who turns into a werewolf at nightfall and having to kill people to regain blood while you hunt down the people who made you that way. Started all graphics from scratch and tried out a semi-real/semi-cartoon style I've not really done before and I'm pretty darn pleased with the result, especially with the short amount of time I had to complete it in. Maximum amount of colors allowed in the challenge was 32 so I reused a lot of my palette and ended up only using 26 of the colors so it's been good practice in plenty of ways. Note this is only a mock up shot and not a playable game.

Name: Hero Prelude - 'Chase' - Walk Cycle Date: Jul 2007 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
'Chase' Walk Cycle
This is Chase's old walk cycle from the Hero Prelude game. I tried hard to get a lot of fluid motion in this despite the low color and small size of the sprite. I've since modified the helmet design and done a left version of the walk cycle that has the arms in different positions rather than a simple horizontal mirroring.

Name: 'Return To Sector 9' Ships Date: Feb-Jul 2007 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)

RsS9 Ship 1R2S9 Ship 2Sector 9 EnemiesR2S9 Enemy 5R2S9 Enemy 7

These are ships from 'Return To Sector 9', sequel to 'Ambush In Sector 9' by Pug Fugly games. Was a massive fan of the first game so I jumped at the chance to do some sprites for the sequel. The first ship is the main craft, the only one you can use at the beginning. The second craft is the first unlocked ship. The bottom groups of ships are the heavily revamped 'Ambush' enemy sprites that feature in the 'remix' mode of 'Ambush' within 'Return'. Members of Eo contributed to all the other types of playable ships unlocked in the game and they all look great and varied each with a vastly different special weapon. Also my third playable ship in the game is the old 'Junkyard Jackal' from my abandoned project 'Onslaught' from a few years ago. It's not shown amongst this group. Game is out now and available at either the YoYo Games site or Pug's own website. Enjoy!

Name: Serena - Warrior Princess Date: Jun 2007 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
Warrior Girl
Piece I did based on the lineart by a fellow artist named Serena, as did several other people on the website Pixelation. I went for a more sci-fi/fantasy hybrid style and I'm happy with the way it turned out. Check out Serena's original version at her Deviantart page for it.

Name: Mini-Meli Date: May 2007 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
Mini-Mel
Another 'Wee' pixel done mainly because I'd been using my old ThunderCats ones as an MSN avatar and my friend Melanie asked for one of herself. Check out her Deviantart page for great photos and paintings that she does.

Name: Me - Run Cycle Date: May 2007 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
Running Me
Running sprite done of myself for one of my games. It's actually massively edited (with new frames added) from the 'Beverly Hills Cop' main sprite I did some years ago too.

Name: Sprites for fellow Game Makers Date: Apr 2007 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
GMC requests
Spend some time on the Game Maker Community forums helping out some kids and stuff with graphics now and then. Just lil bits for practice, particularly things like this where they provide a basic template for characters in their game and request other people come up with characters. It's fun working with someone elses template and has me pixelling a character I may never have done before.

1. is by a member called Metallica Freak and he requested all kinds of army soldiers/robots/whatever

2. is by Rabwick and he requested we pixel ourselves. I did mine based on myself from couple years ago cos I was more fun to pixel back then.

3. is by ChIkEn AtE mY dOnUtS who has an amusing name. He just wanted characters based on his simple circle with feet template. I was really tired doing this one and got sorta carried away but I'm real pleased with the outcome. I may use it in one of my own mini games someday when I got patience enough to do plenty animation for it.

New New AMC Sprites
Wasn't happy with the earlier sprite I did for my planned Astro Marine Corps remake so relegated him to enemy grunt status and did these two guys who are much more like proper sci-fi action heroes.

Name: Mini Robin Hood Date: Jan 2007 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
Mini Robin Hood
Brought back and polished up my old Gameboy Color Robin Hood RPG sprites now choosing to use them in a platform game for a Retro Remakes challenge but didn't finish. Will be continuing this mini platformer so check the Games page when it's up.

Name: 'Chase' Portrait Date: Jan 2007 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
'Chase'
Portrait graphic for my Hero game. This is the mission controller known as 'Chase' who is also the main playable character in the Hero Prelude game though that is set a fair while before this time of her life. Thanks to Mirre for tweaking the lips a little and getting that lil smile looking better.

Name: Hero 'Player 2' Date: Jan 2007 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
Hero 'Player 2'
These are the color variants and main sprites/portraits of the second player character in my Hero game. At time of typing this he is still unnamed but is a more mysterious and quieter character than 'Player 1'
