Shadow of the Beast Sprite Revamp
Done for a Pixelation 'commercial critique challenge' where the group would study the art from a commercial game from the past (mostly) and see what they feel was good or bad about it and do their own updates of sprites from the game. This here's the main sprite from the first Shadow of the Beast, a game series I still enjoy if just for the cool music and atmosphere. Original sprite is on the left, my revamp (which does look somewhat like a cybernetic version, á la Jason X) is to the right.

Name: Hero - Enemy Intro Sprite Date: Dec 2006 Software: Paint Shop Pro 7 (PC)
Hero - Enemy Sprite
A large detailed image of one of the enemies from my NES-inspired 'Hero' game (check Games page when it's up). The little one is the main sprite from the actual gameplay parts whereas the large image is from the intro animation.

Name: Pilot Portraits Date: Dec 2006 Software: Paint Shop Pro 7 (PC)
Pilot 1Pilot 2
A pilot head image for a games dialogue boxes plus a recolor for alternate character. Done quickly as a request on the Game Maker Community forums.

'Hotel Of Hell' SpritesKid Zombi CPCCrawler WalkCrawler AttackGhost SkullFoo Nurse
More sprites from my CPC project. More of Mal at the top there, and the female character Meg (who's based on a friend of mine, you should check out her DeviantArt page). The enemies are the row below her. The zombie is a recolor of my earlier Kid Zombi sprite, and the nurse is based on a character by another friend of mine, Kitty whose site can be found here. All sprites share the same palette but the enemies are shown here using the colors of the locations they are found in (which the player sprites recolor to when they are in those areas too, thereby keeping the 4 color max limitation and adding a weird atmosphere to it all).

Name: CPC Fad Avatar Date: Oct 2006 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
CPC Fad Avatar
This was for a Pixelation fad where people had to make their forum avatars of themselves in a similar sorta way (the frontal head and the same kinda background) but you were allowed to deviate from it in some ways. Since I had seen someone had done a C64 themed one, I chose to get the CPC back in there and did an avatar based on it's 16 color wide pixel mode. And then animated it. The demon face ya see flashing at some points is Amon from the anime Amon - Apocalypse of Devilman, being based on a shot from that anime I used as my MSN avatar at the time. It's scaled up x2 as was the requirement for avatar size.

Name: Spiky Harold Date: Aug 2006 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
Spiky Harold
Did this for the Retro Remakes forum member Sokurah for his remake of the old Spectrum/CPC game Spiky Harold as I didn't have the time to do ThunderCat graphics he originally wanted. Tried to make this hedgehog actually bear some resemblance to the real life creature it's based on, and to distinguish it from a certain blue speedster. You can download the game at his site.

Mech Battler
Took a lil break during my Eagle's Nest work and pixelled some simple stuff just for fun and came up with this lil basic looking mech. Was mainly thinking of the classic Konami SNES game Cybernator at the time.

Frank DouglasJohn MorganEagle's Nest Sprites
Portraits of the characters John Morgan and Frank Douglas (with their in-game sprites below) I created for my remake of the old game 'Into The Eagle's Nest'. More graphics from this project in the Games page (when it's up). Hopefully a new character soon too. Looking forward to working on this project again when I can.

Name: Cowboy Shooting Date: Apr 2006 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
Cowboy ShootingPardners
Did this after watching too many westerns and the sci-fi western series Firefly DVD box set (addictive stuff, just wish there was more of it, and yeah I got Serenity too). Was pretty happy with this lil guy, especially the gun hand and the firing finger. Was intended for a game idea I had with the working title 'Space Cowboy' that would have been a bit like Firefly, BraveStarr and John Wayne movies. The bootom image shows him and his sidekick (who was actually the first sprite I did but looked too childish to the be this character).

Name: Legend Of Shadow Concept Sprite Date: Jun 2006 Software: Paint Shop Pro 7 (PC)
Legend of Shadow Concept
A concept sprite for my planned one level test of an unofficial sequel to Darthlupi's contest winning remake Legend of Shadow which is one of my all time favorite games (odd since I never liked the original Legend of Kage much at all) and it's not just cos I did a couple of system graphics for it either, I just find the game incredibly fun. Kept the sprite fairly small in keeping with the wide view of his version, but made it slightly bigger so I could put some more detail and form to it. Actually designed this to look good on my big TV hence the outline and fairly sharp contrast.

Name: Comando Tracer Date: Mar 2006 Software: Paint Shop Pro 7 (PC)
Comando Tracer
Felt like doing a small project so I picked remaking 'Comando Tracer' an old game I had on the CPC by Spanish games company Dinamic. Turns out I didn't even have time to do that but I did do new sprites of the vehicle of the game.

Name: CPC Sprite - Mal Walking Date: Mar 2006 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
CPC Sprite - Mal Walking
A rather determined strong looking walk cycle for Mal, the main character of my CPC project 'Hotel of Hell'. Really do love how this turned out and I very much enjoy doing low color work like this.

Name: Green Lantern Minis Date: Feb 2006 Software: Paint Shop Pro 7 (PC)
Green Lantern Minis
Just a big fan of the Green Lanterns so pixelled simple looking sprites of Hal Jordan and John Stewart (JLU version of John) using one of the various NES palettes floating around the internet..

Name: Robot Date: Feb 2006 Software: Paint Shop Pro 7 (PC)
Robot
Messing around with the same palette I used on the Green Lanterns, I made this lil robot with a few changable parts and color variations. Not sure why but I like it.

Name: Switchblade 'Hiro' Ready Stance Date: Feb 2006 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
Switchblade 'Hiro' Ready Stance
The ready to fight stance for Hiro from my Switchblade Alpha project (check Games page when it's up). Had drawn a new sprite several months before and this was the reversion of it and animated. I've since made a few more little changes but haven't updated the animation.

Name: Popeye Date: Feb 2006 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
Popeye
Part of a challenge on Pixelation was to create a decent Popeye platformer sprite in 48x48 pixels trying to get a good likeness of the character. This was my entry.

Name: Mini Ships Date: Jan 2006 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
Mini Ships
The Selection of ships I did for the GMC member Richard90 who asked people to do 15x15 pixel spaceships using the palette he provided of two reds and a few greys. The first ship is a recolored top down sprite I did several months before of the Vic Viper from Konami's Gradius series, while the fifth ship is based on the craft from 'Raging Skies' by Darthlupi.

Name: Old Mage Date: Jan 2006 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
Old Mage
Another GMC request, though I can't recall who this was for. They just asked for an old mage in the same size and proportions as the sprites from Final Fantasy VI. I provided two color schemes so he could choose which he liked best.

Name: BBaller Ship Date: Jan 2006 Software: Pro Motion V5.1 (PC)
BBaller Ship
A request from the Eo member BBaller who asked me to do a new ship for his shooting game he was making at the time. Simple enough.

Name: 'Feral' Beast Portrait Date: Jan 2006 Software: Paint Shop Pro 7 (PC)
'Feral' Beast Portrait
A beat 'em up style portrait of my 'Feral' characters semi-beast form, that went with the earlier sprite I did of him, for the King of Spriters project. This is one of my favorite pieces and actually my fastest when taking into account the size of it and the sketching I did. Drew up the design one day, pixelled it complete the following day, which for me, is pretty fast.
