A drawing I did of me for a
fad topic that was about trying to copy the
style of the artwork of a damn fine pixel artist called Kenneth Fejer. It came out a bit too tall and thin
to be me but it was interesting trying to emulate someone else's art that
is so different to mine. |

More practice with low resolutions, this time trying to get a shiny
metallic look on a small sprite. It's based on the 20th Anniversary
Optimus Prime toy. Yeah the animation is bad. |

My
third proper attempt at drawing a Lion-O sprite. This one looking
more like a Capcom fighter than the previous drawing. The Sword gave
me a headache trying to draw it at that angle and has so far been left as
framework. While designing it I had images of a four player
old-style scrolling beat 'em up featuring Lion-O, Panthro, Cheetara and
Tygra as the player characters with Snarf being just like the lil guys in
Golden Axe that you had to kick to gain food and magic bottles. Any
excuse to kick that lil pest, eh? |

A small portrait of my
then girlfriend I did to test out smooth, shiny, high contrast shading.
I'd never drawn another real person before and I was really afraid I'd
mess up by making an image that insulted that person. I still think
it makes her look a lil chubby and she looks way better in real life. |

Designed this for a computing
course I had been put on (cos I seem to have trouble getting a job) that
let me design a potential Gameboy Advance platform adventure featuring
Robin Hood. I saw this as more practise for drawing low resolution
people at 16 colors (which he is if ya take the weapons off) as it's
something I find hard to do. I'm pretty pleased with this one
though. The look of him is inspired by Michael Praed's Robin in the
British TV show Robin of Sherwood that aired in the 1980's. |

Drew this for a Pixelation
topic about making a poster made up of 64x64 pixel works by everyone in
the community though I haven't heard much about it since then. I
think you can tell I rushed this a little with the shading because I had a
lot of other things to do and wanted to get this done for the poster. Redone the picture a couple years later. |

Jack here is the main
character of a game that my friend Tom and I had been sharing ideas bout a
game that's sort of a scrolling beat 'em up with role playing game
elements. Think River City Ransom on NES but with a comic horror
theme. Jack was a demon spirit who's body had been destroyed while
coming through a portal to Earth as a scout for an invasion force and
possessed the first body he could find which happened to be that of a
recently murdered alcoholic. His newfound love for beer and burgers
causes him to team up with a formerly womanising, corrupt, Las Vegas
priest trying to gain redemption by fighting the demonic forces of evil.
I had drawn the first one back in June but redrew him a couple of months
later exaggerating his bestial look a lot more but had real trouble
finishing his leg and hand. I'll get back to him soon. He
comes in a variant color scheme like most beat 'em ups mainly because I
couldn't decide which one I preferred. |

This is a sprite I drew for a
possible high action overhead shoot 'em up in the same sort of genre as
the Amiga's Alien Breed series. Looking back I suppose he looks a
little like Gambit of the X-Men especially with that tan trenchcoat.
The storyline was going to be about a couple of bounty hunters forming an
uneasy alliance to bring in a difficult bounty but stab each other in the
backs for the money. |

This is the Sword of Omens from ThunderCats in it's various stages of 'growth' from the short dagger like form to it's battling sword form. |

I did this after finally getting to play the
ThunderCats game on
Amiga and seeing how Lion-O looked more like a constipated orange dwarf instead
of the tall heroic warrior he should be. The pose is based on one
from the original character designs from the show. |

A concept plane I designed for
a vertical shoot 'em up after playing too much Giga Wing. The jet is
inspired by the plane mode of the transformable Valkyrie jet flown by
Isamu Dyson in the anime Macross Plus. The contrast on the first jet
is the one I would use if I ever made a game of it. |
