Hero - Celestial Force (Previously known as Hero - Prelude to H.A.) started off as a way to make a smaller version of the older Hero - Heavy Assault engine to help me improve my coding in Game Maker and just started developing into it's own entry in the series. Obviously like that game it's also based on the little black and white game Hero by Daniel Remar and done with a later 'retro style' reminiscent of the NES or SNES. The palette consists of colors picked from the 'RealityC' custom NES palette I obtained somewhere and use on NES emulators as I just like it's range of colors. While the game has a NES screen size it is not in any NES accurate when it comes to amount of colors on screen or per sprite/tile, though for the most part I like to keep the color usage fairly low (compared to a Mega Drive or SNES game I suppose).
The game features a NSF (NES music format) soundtrack by Technomancer who also provides the authentic 8 bit sound effects.
Hero - Celestial Force's gameplay is a mixture of exploration and shoot 'em up with plenty of enemies to destroy, secrets to find and the occasional big boss in the way, for one or two players as they make their way through the six levels. The players will be able to use save points which are scattered sparingly throughout the stages and even transfer a chosen amount of their life energy to each other if one is close to death.
